Käthi Bhend was born in Olten in 1942. After her apprenticeship as a graphic designer she worked in Paris and Lausanne. Today she lives in the eastern part of Switzerland. She has received multiple awards for her picture books, such as the Premio Grafico from the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 1990. The same year she also received the Schweizer Jugendbuchpreis. Einer, der nichts merkte, her interpretation of Robert Walser’s short stories, has earned outstanding reviews.
